A catalogue of names that refuse to fit in the address bar.
longest.domains collects real, registered domains that push the length limits of the DNS. Some are jokes, some are marketing stunts, some are just stubborn. Every one of them gets truncated by your browser — which is exactly why we show them inside one.
The limits
- 63 characters
- The most a single label (the part between dots) can hold under RFC 1035.
- 253 characters
- The ceiling for a full hostname, dots included. Few registrars let you get close.
- 30+ to qualify
- We only list registered, resolving domains with at least 30 characters in total.
How submissions work
When you submit a domain, it lands in an admin inbox by email. We check that it resolves, that it isn't parked spam, and that it meets the length rule. Approved domains join the list, sorted by character count.
